A driveway or patio is the concrete you look at every single day, so it has to be poured right the first time. Our crew handles the whole job — tearing out the old slab if there is one, grading and compacting the base, setting forms and rebar, and pouring a broom or trowel finish that drains the way it should. Two-car driveways, extensions, turnarounds, covered and open patios: we do them every week across the Birmingham area.

Most of the cracked driveways we get called about in Alabama did not fail because of the concrete. They failed because the ground under them moved — our red clay swells when it is soaked and shrinks in a dry spell, and a slab poured on loose or wet clay follows it. That is why we spend the time on base prep: cut to grade, compact a stone base, set the rebar or wire on chairs so it sits in the middle of the pour, and cut control joints at the right spacing so the concrete cracks where we tell it to instead of where it wants to. You get a free on-site inspection and a free written quote before anything is scheduled.
